Brag basket on the road

By Small Biz Survival

The Brag Basket is open! This one is for January 16-31, 2015. Bring your good news to share with everyone.

What can you do in the Brag Basket?

  • introduce yourself
  • share some great news from this week
  • congratulate a friend
  • applaud for each other
  • confess your undying love for rural places

How do you join in?

Below this post is the comment section. Add your good news there.

Don’t like to brag? Just share some good news for yourself or a friend.

Just don’t make it an ad. I delete the ads that people stick in here. If you talk more about the people involved than the things, you’ll be fine.

It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

I would like to brag on our grand nephew, Cody Smith. He and his partner Jeremy recently open City Butcher in Springfield, MO. They have Texas-style bar-b-que and an array of butcher cuts, homemade sausage etc.

Cody truly is following his dream. He went to Austin to culinary school and then worked in nice restaurants in the area, learning and growing as a chef. Last year he had went out on his own, opening a store in the best farmers market in Springfield. He did a great repeat business there each week. That led to the new brick and mortal store which opened just before Thanksgiving.

The City Butcher team is using social media to promote, share and keep customers informed on what is available each day. I follow them on Facebook, but I know they have taken advantage of the Internet in many ways. In a Facebook recently they mentioned they were visiting the Kansas Farm where they buy their meat. And the included links to the farm’s website.

OK, I know Cody is family and I could go on and on. Mr. Bruce and I are proud of this young man; he has worked hard to open his first store. the website for City Butcher is http://citybutchersgf.com/

Congratulations to Cody and Jeremy! Sounds like they are doing great work. Thank you, Miss Dazey, for bragging on them, and rightly so. I really like how they stepped up using a farmer’s market location to test the market before starting a full-size location. That’s smart.

I’d like to brag about a business opening this month in Ellinwood, KS. Gather Coffee House opened on January 5th in historic downtown Ellinwood! The business was a cooperative effort, with five community women involved! One woman bought the building and existing business that was closing, another quit her salaried job to go “all in” as the business owner, I am involved as an event organizer for Gather, which has an outstanding area for workshops and get togethers! Gather acts as an incubator of sorts for four home-based businesses to display and sell their products. We are so excited about the opportunity to bring a wide variety of events and activities to the rural area! Thank you for your website and positive outlook on Small RURAL Businesses! I love your articles and save/share them with my Chamber of Commerce, as I am a board member. And thanks for the chance to BRAG about Gather Coffee House!!
