Step up to the Brag Basket

By Small Biz Survival

The Brag Basket is our tradition of sharing. Step up and share some good news.

The basket is always free and open all weekend, this one Feb 3-5, 2012. Have some good news this week? Put it in the Brag Basket.

Don’t hold back because of that word, “brag.” When you hold back, you hide your good news and accomplishments that might inspire others. Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing.

What can you do in the Brag Basket?

  • introduce yourself
  • share some great news from this week
  • congratulate a friend
  • laugh about something wonderful that you tried that failed
  • applaud for each other

Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. We all cheer, and everyone feels great. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.

How does it work? You write a comment on this post.

This is not an ad. (I delete the ads.) It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

Hi Becky, long time no chat.

This was a great week, a new project I am involved with that is bringing the Daily Deals business model to the nationwide Christian market, http://www.greatchristiandeals.com signed up our first two major affiliate marketing partners.

One is a major global religious denomination and the other is a rapidly growing online and offline media star based in California. Both agreements served to reinforce our business model and belief set.

We have so much to “brag” about! Several of our members reached their 5 Year mark in 2012 as VBA’s. VBA=Virtual Bankruptcy Assistants.
Congratulations to all the members of NSVBA!

Sonora, the only incorporated city in our county, has been chosen as the host city for Stage 4 of the Amgen Tour of California. If (like me) you don’t follow international cycling, you probably don’t know that this is one of the most prestigious bicycle races in the country, with many of the teams also taking part in the Tour de France. It’s a huge effort on the part of the community, that will bring tens of thousands of spectators to our little burg. My niche is managing the Google+ Page. There is also a Facebook Page and an offcial website.

Greg, congratulations to Sonora and the whole community work on it!

Hey Becky, I’ve been absent for a while but seeing your photo pulled me in like a tractor beam. I bought one of these step baskets for my Grandmother years ago for Christmas and she uses it for her crochet yarn. OK – on to the bragging. It is a frequent topic with me – my home town of Soldier, Iowa. Tonight the community club hosted their regular monthly fish fry and it was delicious. This weekend, the retailers of the “Soldier Super Strip” are getting together to offer special savings to all of their customers as they help to celebrate a business move and expansion. Bloomy’s Boutique, a clothier specializing in new and very gently used women’s clothing is moving to a larger location this weekend. Fellow merchants Sheri’s Book Treasures and Simply Unique (a framing business and art studio) are offering special sale pricing and helping to celebrate Main Street retail expansion in this beautiful town of about 200 souls. And, the owner of Sheri’s Book Treasures – yes, Sheri – is celebrating her 50th birthday at the Community Center. A great weekend in Soldier!

Whoops, I forgot that I also need to brag on a business in my adopted (and current) home town of Dunlap, Iowa. Cross Roads Wine and Liquor celebrates their first year in business this weekend. Congratulations to my neighbor, who manages the store.

Shannon, great to have you in today! Love the basket connection to your grandmother! And cheers to the awesome people of Soldier, and the great people of Dunlap!

    Becky:

I read your blog periodically, will share many of those posts, and think this is a great feature. I don’t have anything to brag about, per se, but wanted to give you a hearty thumbs up on this cool feature.

    Cheers,
    Justin
