The eagerly awaited Brag Basket

By Small Biz Survival

I know one of you is eagerly awaiting the Brag Basket this week, so here it is! What wonderful news will you choose to share this week? The basket is open all weekend, from January 21-23, 2011.

Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing. It’s here so you can introduce yourself, share some good news, or congratulate a friend.

Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. We all cheer, and everyone feels great. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.

How does it work? You write a comment on this post, email me, tweet me, or comment on Facebook. You tell something great about your week, or you give applause to someone who did good stuff this week. Or you celebrate something wonderful that you tried that failed.

This is not an ad. (I delete the ads.) It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

Good morning! I’m always happy to read a post from you. Common sense and helpful information.

My good news is the number of workshops, Tweetups and IRL social events I’ve signed up for this month. It takes moxie and courage for this middle aged woman to “re-invent” life as I know it. That includes opening my life to learning about social media friends in my area. And the reward? I have been so blessed with each meeting. Making the effort is worth every self-doubt and pang of insecurity that presents itself.

    Have a great weekend.

Hooray, Imelda! Work that moxie ^_^

My good news is partly from last week – I would have shared it last weekend, but was taken out by a bout of the plague. I got two critical funding applications finished and sent off last Friday, and finished a final report for some other funding this week – almost two months early!

I’m hoping this will give me some breathing room on the not-fun-work front, so I can get back to working on the fun-work front (ie. finally catching up on my Tourism Currents courses ^_^)

A small hotel near the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport made Trip Advisor’s most recent 2011 Travelers’ Choice Awards! What a great story about a property that focused on providing quality experiences and as a result generated so many positive reviews by guests, they received recognition from Trip Advisor. I’m so proud of the hard working staff there.

Imelda, thanks for those kind words! Good for you! Get out there and show ’em you have plenty to offer.

Erica, congratulations on getting those applications finished! I know what a relief it will be.

M., big congrats to your locals, continuing to reap national attention.
