Connect with us in the Brag Basket

By Small Biz Survival

Even though I call this the Brag Basket, it’s not really about bragging. It’s about sharing. I started this so you can introduce yourself, share some good news, or congratulate a friend.

The basket is open all weekend, from July 30 – August 1, 2010.

Speak up and add yourself or another deserving soul in the comments. We all cheer, and everyone feels great. It lets you meet each other a bit. Reading each others’ stories brings us a bit closer to being a community.

How does it work? You write a comment on this post, email me, tweet me, or comment on Facebook. You tell something great about your week, or you give applause to someone who did good stuff this week. Or you celebrate something wonderful that you tried that failed.

This is not an ad. (I delete the ads.) It’s a conversation with friends. So jump in. And remember to cheer for each other.

I’d like to brag on my husband, Bruce. He committed to 4 more years volunteering at CoxHealth Auxiliary. He will be pres. elect for 2 years, then president for 2 years. CoxHealth is a major medical complex in Springfield, MO. They have over 800 volunteers, it is a small business in several ways. Volunteering is a wonderful way to spend ones retirement years. (he’s 75)

Thanks for the brag basket Becky. I love reading everyone’s stories.

I’d like to brag about the launch of my new website – http://www.extraincomedaily.com. I have been an attorney and online business owner for years, but I finally decided to start sharing my experiences and hopefully help other people build businesses.

Thanks again Becky. I would love to hear you and your readers’ thoughts about my new site.

I’d like to brag about Mrs. Oklahoma 2010, Heidi Ducato. She learned only 3 weeks before the National pageant that she would be going to compete as Mrs. Oklahoma. She worked, along with me, to get everything done in that short period of time and placed first runner up to Mrs. International! Throughout it all, she remained positive, friendly and fun to be with. She made an impact on those she met while in Chicago, stopping to talk to people as long as they wanted to spend time with her. She is truly the epitome of what I feel Mrs. Oklahoma International should be: friendly, approachable, beautiful inside and out! Congratulations, Heidi!

I’d like to brag that 3 weeks ago I launched my business providing outsourced services aimed at solo entrepreneurs (good for small businesses too!). See http://www.AndMyAssociates.com/
This would be exciting on it’s own.

But this week my net-profit roughly matched my weekly salary from my last full-time job. Certainly, there will be ups and downs, and I know I have a long way to go. But this is a nice milestone.

Miss Dazey, I join you in a round of applause for Bruce. He’s made a very big commitment to service.

Fred, congratulations! Launches are always exciting times.

Lauri, wow! Thanks for bringing us the update on Heidi. Congrats to you both on a wonderful representation for Oklahoma.

Brandon, you are off to a thrilling start! May you have continued success.

I’d like to brag about one of my favorite Seattle Social Media peeps, Shauna Causey. She spent years working with Frank Eliaison’s team at Comcast, and just a few days ago left for projects unseen. She was promptly scooped up by Ant’s Eye View, one of the best social agencies in town. And she deserves it, too: Shauna spends most of her “spare” time on volunteer and NFP projects such as VolunTweetup. She is one of the most energetic and selfless people I know and deserves every bit of good that comes her way.

Excited that I actually self published a book with Createspace and it was easier than I thought. And I am not a techie.

    A WOMAN WITHOUT A MAN

It actually is on Amazon now.

James Kavanaugh, the famous writer, wrote the Forward.

    It is on my blog.

Corinne, congratulations on two fronts: on the book launch, and on it being easier than expected. :)

I’d like to brag about a very productive week for me. I completed a redo on a website template (www.monthlydrawinglessons.com) for one of my blogs, and I wrote four articles for other publications, all of which were approved (they’ll be printed in a few months). I also helped create a print ad for a client and I may be doing her website next…which is what I primarily do– web design (www.artandtechdesign.com)

I would like to brag about my great wife who after having our first baby in late December (our baby girl, Asha is now 6 months old) has somehow found the time to keep growing her business at http://www.17thandriggs.com – an online contemporary furniture store. She has received great support from people like Shashi B (the swami), Jill Foster (our neighbor and queen of being awesome) and current WomenGrowBusiness.com editor Shonali Burke! My wife Rebecca’s business is also a great customer of my startup, Kikscore that helps small businesses demonstrate trust & reliability for their business to website visitors. I am so proud of her.

Also I hope I can add that everyone may want to take a little more notice of all of the successful mompreneurs that are juggling so much and trying to make their businesses thrive. Here is a salute to all of the mompreneurs that are out there in this world. – Raj

Raj, congratulations to your wife, and to you both! And I’ll join you in a salute to the moms and entrepreneurs!
