Shout out in the Brag Basket

By Small Biz Survival

Each week, I open the Brag Basket. It’s designed as a fun place for you to share your projects and accomplishments. But you can also cheer for other people, give shout outs, congratulate, and even give someone a well-deserved pat on the back.

The Brag Basket is open for everyone, whether from a small town, a big city, or anywhere in the world. (But it’s true that I love small town brags!)

Will you put something in the Brag Basket this week? You can brag on a friend, your own project, yourself, others, anything! You don’t need special permission, and you don’t have to be from a small town. Just leave a comment right here. There’s no deadline, so you can brag anytime during the weekend, and I’ll open a fresh Brag Basket each Friday.

WOW, do I get to be one of the first. Michael Martine of http://remarkablogger, and I will be launching our Blawging Lawyers http://blawginglawyers.com membership site sometime after this weekend.

What is so great about all of this is that Michael has been one of the best things about this. He is truly a great person and wonderful to work with. We are both excited about Blawging Lawyers and can’t wait for those who signup to take advantage of it.

I’d like to brag on the vDUSEL project (http://vdusel.dsu.edu)being developed in conjunction with the Deep Underground Science and Engineering Lab (DUSEL) at the Homestake Gold Mine in Lead, SD. Here’s a quick overview: During the next few years, scientists hope to build an underground lab to conduct research like that of Noble Prize winner Ray Davis. Ultimately, they want to commercialize these technologies. A lot has been made about how this research is going to spur economic development throughout the western Dakotas.

What’s cool to me, however, is that they intend to create a virtual version of the lab as an educational outreach program. In other words, people from around the country will be able to get on-line and experience a 3D, virtual version of the lab. In this virtual environment, people (young and old) will be able to go down into the mine (a great option for those who are claustrophobic), hear about research being conducted there, conduct their own experiments, and connect with people who are actually at the lab.

Sounds like a great way help people in rural communities connect in ways never imaginable previously.

Grant, congratulations to you and Michael! That is a great project and a great service. Good for you both!

Mike, I love that project! It’s such a terrifically cool thing in a really rural area. Keep us up to date, as it progresses!

I love Michael Martine too! But my brag is that after recovering from an illness (in which I got into Twitter/blogging/etc.) I am finding myself in demand as a social media marketing coach for small professional services businesses (which I had previously)…I was concerned about how I would get back to work in such a weak economy…this is turning out to be a great marriage of my previous work and newly updated skills.

I’m gonna brag on my sweetie @danabrit this week – she brought home a mammoth (well, a new website development contract) for us yesterday. Was a happy Valentine’s day indeed.

Susan, what an encouraging story! I’m glad you’ve found yourself in such demand. Congratulations.

Have a great time at the Social Media Day event today. It was nice to meet you in NYC. I would place your talk among those to be a top pick. Enjoying your book as I get time to read.
