Brag Basket – You deserve to be cheered on

By Small Biz Survival

brag basketUPDATE: Read the brags, below!

The life of a rural entrepreneur can feel a bit solitary. But you still deserve to be cheered on. Once a week, you can come here and brag a bit on your business, your community, or your self. We’ll cheer you on.

What can you brag about? Owen likes to brag about new developments in Oprius, like new team approaches or new features. Phil has bragged on the new look for his book, and Heidi bragged about her new service.

It doesn’t have to be something HUGE. I bragged about getting mentioned in an Oklahoma newsletter, along with Jack. Whatever made you feel good this week is fair game.

You can brag anytime during the weekend and throughout the week. Next Friday, I’ll post a new Brag Basket, fresh and clean for new brags.

If you feel a bit bananas when you get done, feel free to take a copy of the basket logo, made for us by our friend BJ, and link back to the brag basket from your own blog or site.

Now it’s your turn. Post a comment and brag!

Oprius has been nominated for the ViaTec Emerging Company Of The Year award. ViaTec is a group that serves the technology companies on Vancouver Island which has a thriving technology sector. We will know in a couple weeks if we get to add another trophy to the already growing wall.

At yesterday’s shoot, the client was present and asking for a variety of reads on the company tag line. With each direction, I’d nod and read the line EXACTLY as he’d requested.

Now, this doesn’t sound like much, but in the acting world, a lot of talent will giggle awkwardly, get nervous, argue (!), give explanations as to why they read the way they did, stiffen up and otherwise take more expensive studio time and aggravate the client while not giving him what he is asking for.

After about 10 minutes, the client mused aloud, “Wow. You take direction really well! :-)

We finished the shoot in half an hour, and instead of the usual “thank you,” the client complimented my “professionalism.”

WOOHOO!
Owen, what terrific news! I’d love for you to win, since we have all enjoyed following your story. The exemplary way you do business makes you and Oprius winners already. Good luck in the competition!

Heidi, I must say that I am not surprised. Your professionalism always sings through! You are the very model of a true professional. Let’s hope the client sings your praises to many others! Congrats!
